@Timmy4pawz What I do to ensure that a tank is empty: using a tank that has run out of propane, slowly remove the top valve fitting using a wrench. Before cutting into the tank, bring it outside to a place with good ventilation and fill it with water. The water will displace any remaining propane out of the tank.

@GnEeErKd you can use old ones you just have to fill them with water.unscrew the taps on them and fill them through the hole...that way you force whatever gas is left out.
i do it to make gas bottle wood burners.

@captainwiggles777 I went to lowes and they had 2 unfilled tanks hidden on a bottom shelf back behind some stuff...Nobody ever looks for them, so you have to find the right person to ask at lowes, but you might have similar luck...
-
@captainwiggles777 you should be able to get one from your local propane dealer

I cannot for the life of me find any never-filled propane tanks. Is there a way to buy them online or anything?

I have a propane tank and would love to turn my into one of these. How do I do it though? Like get rid of all the gas and tune it?

@Timmy4pawz You really should not use a propane tank that has ever been used...even a slight bit of remaining fumes can cause an explosion that you don't want to be part of...only cut into brand new, never used tanks
