Defying Gravity is a programmatic work depicting the marvels of modern aviation. The opening of this piece singnifies the take-off of our magnificent jet. The following exposition portrays the excitement and majesty we experience as we are lifted towards the heavens on our journey. We finally reach crusing altitude and gaze out the window at the beautiful horizon as we soar above the clouds. The peacefulness insoon interruped as we begin to descend through a turbulent storm but our skilled pilot eventually regains control of the aircraft and heroically returns us to the ground.

  • :)

  • This reminds me of myself when I start my day. I start walking to school with a very peppy manner, because I have band in 1st Period. The other reason why I love this song is because it's made by my favorite composer, and it had some French Horn solos. That's what I love about thiscomposer. He also reminds me of Frank Ticheli. Well done, Mr. Reineke!
