I dont understand why there so many ppl out their who just cant differentiate between sports[wkf] and traditional kata.
-
@J0EY0924 the technique is not shown correctly and the spirit because of the acceleration of the kata ...you need to be a stone statue for 1 second for every move
-
Catalyn080... u dont know what your talking about.. get your close minded jka garbage out of here.
-
@catalyn080 LOL sharp is not what we need in kata??? you're a close minded full.. probably another idiot from the JKA or on the open circuit.....
-
@J0EY0924 check sensei frank brennan's nijushiho kata ..and you will see what means to be spirit ..to be focus ...to breath ...some parts of the kata are very fast ..and then sloww ...and then again ..
-
@J0EY0924 spirit means kime ..when you do kata ..you need to be confident ..and to do breathing technique ...because he accelerate the kata means he can not breath as fast as he moves ...and here comes the fact he doesn't have spirit..after you do an move you need to be fixed a second on that technique..to show us the technique ...people can not understand much if he haste ,,,for that is kata ...to show how better you can do the techniques ....not how fast ...
-
@catalyn080 those principles are in his kata as well.... spirit is not measured via screaming .. lol it must be seen in person.. spirit is what gives a spectators chills as they watch... you sound like another fool stuck on that open circuits bullshit.
-
@J0EY0924 sharp is not what we need in kata ...the principal characteristics of kata are the Kime /spirit + technique ..not speed ..if you use to do kata with speed you don't show the technique ..and the breathing ...he does not show spirit again ....

His front stance seems a little too far back, no? Back leg is too bent. Just the way I was taught. No disrespect intended.
I wouldn't say that Luca is just a performer.
Whenever I email him, he's very humble in his replies, and humility is one of the characteristic traits of a true karateka. He performs the way he does because it's for entertainment and for competition. Come to think about it, he wouldn't be a world champion if he didn't have discipline, another characteristic trait. So, I wouldn't say he's not a karateka.
