Two tender locos - a Roundhouse Fowler and modified Accucraft Edrig are working hard in the early Spring sunshine on the Summerlands Light Railway. We thought it would be easy, but both use the same transmitter and the regulators go in opposite directions! We tried a servo reverser on Edrig but it didn't work (and I only noticed that darned cable when editing!!). So Edrig had the regulator just open and Roy Wood used to Fowler R/C. This provided a challenge for smooth driving! The Fowler's coupling pin came out twice, we had to top up the gas on both locos and I had to rush inside for a spare camera battery in the middle of the steaming - so it was not exactly relaxing!

  • this shot also fades out the train too soon. should do follow up on the last

car till it disappears behind a bush etc. but, it's a bit better than the other shot

    u've done.

  • @5utube12 - Many thanks for the comment - nice to know I am improving! Seriously though, I have taken your comments on board.

  • @Summerlandsteam Hi Chris, What works matters and your videos work for me and I guess a lot of folks. See you at Stoneleigh!

  • @PineTreeJunction - Hi Lindsay - kneelers sound like a very good idea! Only one or two of my videos have gone over into two steamings - but I have no idea why I put myself under pressure to do it in one! I guess it is because there is always so much else going on and the light or wind can change so quickly, so I like to get it all in the can asap. I might think about relaxing one day...........just not soon ;-)

    Cheers

  • @noelw71 - Thanks for the kind words Noel and Jane - it is great to hear from Ca! I always aim for slow, but sometimes what looks slow to the eye, looks like an express on the video. On this one it worked just right, but then the Fowler really is a wonderful slow runner.

    Cheers

  • That is a great video. They look so real running slow that you don't see much in Live steam in the gardens. Great work keep them together and running soomth.. Tks for posting.. Noel & Jane in Ca.

  • @Summerlandsteam Hi Chris. Thanks for the reply. We have made some kneelers out of carpet underlay to help when we get down with the low shots. Our garden railway runs at ground level so lots of up and downs. You do really well to film in one steaming and it all looks great. It makes such a difference when the sun is out so you get lots of shadows and depth to the shots. We really like watching your channel with all the different locomotives so keep getting out there with your camera!

  • @RASDV - Many thanks for the comment - glad you liked it!

    Cheers
