This is a cover of a song from the Dayton punk band The Oxymorons - the song is the lead track of their sole CD release, "Dancing on Billy's Grave". All credit for this kickass track goes to them.

This is a high-energy track, I found I had to listen to the nuance of the track, and within two sessions of practicing, I finally got a take I was fairly happy with. It's a little sloppy near the very end, but I think I nailed the fills fairly well. It's harder than it looks to do some of the more nuanced stuff in drumming like this, especially at high speeds, you learn new ways of moving your arms and hands.

I totally missed one fill in a verse near the end though.

  • not a fan of this band, but its a solid drum cover. Enjoy the many faces during this session. lol

  • LOL - yeah, when I go into the first chorus, I look like I'm trying to inhale a melon.

I also notice my hihat timekeeping is somewhat jagged. I'll have to work on that.

  • Wow.

This is Nick, the drummer from The Oxymorons.

It's quite flattering that someone is still listening to our music after 15 years, let alone finding it interesting enough to play along to. You really made my day.

By the way, I used to have the same problem with bass drum creep. I ended up carrying a small rug to gigs with me and getting bass drum spurs with spikes in the ends. I also placed a heavy cinder block in front of the drum for added resistance.

    Good job, and keep drumming!

  • This is pretty odd and cool. I'm the bassist from The Oxymorons. I've seen anybody cover a song of ours, even a drum solo practice.
