Its obvious some sort of sensor that detects if paper is there if it isnt sensing paper its not gonna waste ink printing on itself

Purrrrhaps it's just a problem with Epson printers, but I also have the same issue with my printers (an Epson RX620 & a Workforce 500), neither of which will print on vellum -or- transparencies. I came to the same conclusion as you did; attaching a sheet of copy paper to the transparency sheet works just fine. I don't know -why- this extra sheet makes a difference, but it does.
BTW: Vincent is purrrrfectly adorable and I love his (her) "necklace".

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I haven't been able to incorporate photos on vellum into my art work because of this problem. Now I'm excited about getting back to my work. How clever and easy the solution!

how does your printer know that this is not real paper? normaly cheap printer like the one i got doesnt have any sensor... so maybe the printer just cant take one 1 sheet at a time.

Thank-you, bought an Epson at Best Buy, BB description said it printed on transparencies but it hasn't. I've tried several types of transparencies with no luck. I didn't have a glue stick but tried using scrapbook tape, it worked the very first try! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!

@ratiotheatre Glad I could help you out! I figured there had to be someone out there in the world with a similar printer who would want to know this trick! :)

I'm not sure how my printer "knows" it is not real. The only thing I do know is that the rollers that pull the paper down from the tray into the printer will absolutely not grab any sheet that is not backed with plain computer paper, even if it is made specifically for ink jet printers...
