  • I listen to this and it reminds me of the opening section of Dex's '71 Monmartre video where he is warming up in the back room before going to the club to perform "Those Were the Days". Without playing over a band, sitting in a chair, Dex had an airy, soft tone that is similar to this recording. Many elements of Dex's style appear here, like the use of low notes, the occasional vibrato and the humorous pitch of the final note. It seems to me that this is Dexter Gordon, recorded in a quiet room
