Some East coast swing dancing at UWO's swing kids club! None of this is rehearsed and Melissa does a great job of following my lead, considering I haven't danced any East coast in the last few weeks. We've been working on Lindy-hop mainly this semester. lol, nice dip at the end :)

  • @hustledancer1 It's actually a variant of East Coast... instead of "step, step, rock-step", we add kicks for flare and it becomes "kick, kick, rock-step". I can switch back to regular steps at any point... ie. "step, kick, rock-step"... "kick, step, rock-step"... "step, step, rock-step"... "kick, kick, rock-step". The timing is exactly the same, it just looks different, which often confuses people... even dance instructors :P

  • @HighT3chR3dn3ck Your view/ opinion of wikipedia is full of hyperbole. In actuality, the vast majority of it's content is regarded as accurate, because it's fostered by a tight-nit community that takes what it does seriously. Moreover, I don't need to cite sources for something that's commonly understood as such. The dance instructors who taught me are just as qualified, if not more than the ones who taught you. I dance East Coast Swing with kick's... deal with it.

  • this looks more fun then WCS. but i dont know shit about the dances.

  • This is awesome.

  • Sure looks a lot like 6-count Charleston.

  • @monikaaaaaaa nope... it's East Coast. Please read the comments.

  • This looks like so much fun. :) I'm taking an intermediate ballroom class this term, and East Coast swing is definitely my favorite so far. I just love watching people dance when they look like they're having a good time.

  • Oh, and all you have to do is look at their 6 count basic of step-step rock-step....It's clearly East Coast Swing, and obviously there are other variations but get a life seriously.

  • Back when I first started swinging a few months ago, this video got me super excited every time I watched it! I just hoped I'd get this good. Total ECS nerd now, and my favorite song is still probably Mr. Pinstripe Suit! =)

  • these cats are good.

  • This looks like SO MUCH FUN. Also, they make it look so easy and natural.

Wish I was at that stage -- dancing for me is still watching for cues and trying to remember the steps and FORGOD'SSAKE-DON'TSTEPONHISTOES...
