@mohawkmeat BHG has always been something of a satirical band, so that is very likely. However there could be more than one meaning to the song.

I think people have it wrong that this is a serious song. I think it's just a more subtle joke aimed at these bands who take their lame "dark" sounding lyrics far too seriously. So they wrote a song full of a bunch of meaningless "dark, emotional" lyrics and topped it off with a chorus ending in "something diabolical", which is basically saying "insert some 'diabolical' sounding lyrics here". It's taking a jab at generic "depressed adolescent" music. Am I right?
