This is about my 2011 gardening attempts at No-Till growing or Mulch gardening. Its really an attempt to give up on introducing organic materials into my present garden soil and just add materials on top. Been trying to build up my soild for four years. Its better than it was, but still a long way from being great soil. Hoping the hay bales will work to keep the chickens happy.
Love the open space!

@bulleuston76 Ya, i feel in love with the place when I first saw it. Things have changed though. We live in the Marcellus Shale region and the influx of fracking trucks has really hurt the standard of living...unless one happens to have gotten a job with one the gas companies that have proliferated here recently.

Hey how did your potatoes end up doing?
GrowSomethingGreen 2 months ago
@GrowSomethingGreen I was really pleased with the potato turnout. I got some of my biggest ones ever. The Idaho's were huge, The reds came out real nice. Still had lots of marbles and the rodents managed to get some as well. Need more snakes. Gonna try the bucket of water with sunflower seeds trick this year. I think its moles though so idk if thatll work.

Update: I didnt do that great a job. I did get some of the biggest green peppers ever from the black plastic part. About a dozen ears of corn which we harvested sooner than we wanted because we lost our other corn to varmints. Kale did pretty good in the mushroom soil as did the cukes. Yet to see how the potatos have done under the leaves. Planted tomatoes in the hay bales, but they did do very well either. It was a rough year. But at least I learned some things.
