How to install a crank and Unsealed BB on a 20in bmx bikeI know its not great but its my first so it will get better!

WOW over 15K Views! I guess I should make more videos. If there is anything you would like to see just say so. I do not work on mtn bikes or road bikes! Also at this time I do not have a freestyle BMX all I have are racing bikes. If you want to see how to work on a headset or brakes or anything just let me know

  • Can someone link me to a video or something to show me how i can change my unsealed bottom bracket to a sealed bottom bracket? I've had an unsealed bottom bracket for my bike for years, im buying a new bike with sealed bearings all round, but my girlfriend wants my old bmx to ride with me at my local park, is there a particular way? mine is one of those big bottom brackets, Not the new small ones, It's a 2005 mongoose pro sniper, if anybody knows what frame it is.

  • @PlayerUnkown

Well, if the mongoose already has a 3peice but just isn't sealed I wouldn't worry about it. Your girlfriend will be just fine on it the way it is.

but, to change out the BB you will need to buy a whole new crank set up, which would cost more than the bike is really worth. Keep what's in it and put money into your new bike.

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 I understand all this but.. The bottom bracket itself is fucked lol. Excuse the language but i have to exemplify my meaning. The driver side of the bottom bracket, The cone or whatever (Not the dust cover thingy or the thing you place into the frame) the thing for the bearings to sit on right next to the sprocket is all chewed up. And when you pedal and ride it for a bit it becomes extremely loose and the more you tighten it, the more the frames cup things push inward.

  • @PlayerUnkown

Well, it sounds like you need a whole new crank system. Snafu and Redline both have good priced crank set ups that come with American BBs. Or look on craigslist and you might find bikes for good prices for parts or something. The part you are talking about is called a race lol its the cone part the bearings sit on. if it is chewed up that is NOT good lol you are going to need a new crank set either way

  • is it possible to replace a unsealed bottom bracket like that to a sealed american/mid bottom bracket?

  • @CopeManMTNDEW

Yes, with an american BB. its getting harder and harder to find cups for those. Mib barrings are the same thing but you need the cups

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 Well it's only 1 part that is chewed that "race" part.. I have another Sprocket the same size connected to a 3 piece thats the same size and all. But the sprocket is weirdly bent xD

  • I recently got a 2004 Freeagent with a one piece crank, What would I need to upgrade to a 3pc crank? American BB?

  • whoop whoop mcl

  • @KrazyBmx517
