Abundance = Choice, Sharing, Copying & Inspiration!

DRM = Another great way of promoting artificial scarcity. Suits doesn't get this cause they think money equals progress, which it has done little by little, but now it's trying to stop it. If the price establishment is for progress ask yourself where those non-fossil fuel vehicle are in mainstream. Internet/piracy is not about making money it's about creating art! And there are people from all over the world creating without asking for a buck.

Piracy exists mostly because of poor distribution and marketing strategy plus bad pricing and quality of the product. It's all a matter of deciding whether to evolve or stay with a wooden stick in your hand hoping to stop a train with it. The entertainment, book publishing etc. industries obviously fancy the second but this will change.

All the claims from hollywood that money is lost due to piracy weight nothing when you compare the year on year increase in revenue. THERE IS NO MONEY LOST! 90% of the people who download movies, music and games wouldn't BUY the media in the first place...

I haven't bought a book in years; my local library buys all the top 0day books about 250 of them every year - and yearly subscription costs less than 1 good book.

So weird to see Aaron still live and kicking in this vid. And we all have a big hunch what (set of corporate entities) led to him killing himself..

Unfortunately allthough i see your point, saying your stealing labour would be just as flawed, as the labour remains 100% intact, and in fact you have not made a single dent to it, if no1 told the manufacturer you pirated this, they wouldn't even know. In monetary terms there is no difference from pirating and IP theft, in the form of the damage they cause etc.

Unfortunately for your point we're not speaking of "profiting from your creation" or not here, we're speaking of limiting zed profit. Profits from commercializing etc will still excist. If the creators of the apps wanted to they could profit in a way that more or less made pirating excitinct for that app, by making small not-annoying ads in a corner and distributing it freely even through TPB if they wanted. The problem has never been that profit cant be made, but ressistance to innovation.

Lets word this in another way; Without reward, effort will not be put forward to produce anything. If you are not being paid, why would you go to work? If you are not being compensated for your creation, then why create it? If you want to make something and give it away, that's your choice. The idea that someone doesn't have a right to profit off of their creation is immoral and wrong. Besides, farming is needed to survive, Apps and other sources of entertainment are not.
