This salmon was caught on a wonderful fishing trip I took with my friends and family on Beasley Fishing Charters (www.BeasleyFishingCharters.com).
At the beginning of the video you will notice Darren Beasley, our guide and owner of the charter business getting the net and grabbing another salmon... that was one caught by our friend Bob Forrester who was manning the other rod (it was a double-header). Darren quickly put the first fish on the ground and left it there to be prepared for mine... he was convinced (as was I) it was a much larger salmon by the way it fought.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, it was an amazing battle for such a small Chinook (aka. King or Spring) salmon (maybe 12 lbs). Unfortunately, the beautiful sound of the line being rapped off the reel didn't translate to the audio on this video from a point and shoot camera but look for the rod tip to bounce wildly and that is usually a good giveaway.
Note: I was fighting this salmon on a gorgeous Mariner reel (aka, a knuckle-buster) which is my favourite reel for true sports fishing (I am not a fan of drag/level wind reels at all).
I hope you enjoy this rather quick clip that will remain a great memory for me for a long time!
Wow...seo business must be doing great these days with all that free extra time for fishing...lol...haha.
