Making Films By Hand Director Eric Dyer's "Copenhagen Cycles" is a 6-minute short film featured in the 2007 Sundance Film Festival "New Frontier on Main" Art Exhibition. The film plays on a large screen in a room showing off the the hand-made zoetropes that Eric created and used to shoot the film. There are no computer-generated effects in this visually dazzling short featuring a bicyclist traveling through the streets of Copenhagen. In today's DTI vidcast, Eric speaks with me about the inspiration for "Copenhagen Cycles." To our surprise, Robert Redford wandered in to say hello and joined the conversation. Redford challenges Eric to take his art one step further. You can see for yourself Redford's passion for nurturing young filmmakers.

  • Why would it need to form a narrative?

  • My favorite point.

  • Does anyone know if that 3D printed version which he describes at the end has been made? That sounds really cool.

  • interesting technique, but how can it be used to form a narrative?
