My newly acquired KEF Q900's showing how they perform with the fantastic soundtrack of "Pirates of the Caribbean". These speakers are fantastic and the depth of the lows are fantastic, the high frequency detail is incredible and has invigorated me so much Im now upgrading my whole system to match these wonderful floor standing speakers from KEF.

Speakers purchased from Audio T in Camberley and my thanks go to Adrian at Audio T who was marvellous.

  • What is your receiver?

    It looks like mine.

  • @Mister60001

Its a Sony STR-DB 1080 receiver, about 8 years old and still performing well. Its connected to a Sony DVP-NS905 SACD player running the Q900's front & Q300's at the rear.

  • Totally agree about the placement, its not ideal but the lounge is being redesigned with a floating wall next year so for the time being that's where they have to stay .

Can't wait to get the diamond cutter on that fireplace lol

I have Q300's as surrounds which compliment the Q900's very well

  • How do you like these speakers for finer vocals, and mid bass punch for movie effects (gun shots) etc... and are you running these speakers through the full range, or crossing over lower frequencies for subwoofer?

  • @thomasueberschaer

The Q900's sound great on movie soundtracks without a subwoofer. I was considering getting a KEF 400b in the Christmas sale but the system sounds good enough without one for the moment.

  • This sounds so impressive, I'll give this movie a shot on my KEF Q300 package pretty soon!

  • Camberley's Audio T is where I have always bought my kit from, guys in there are superb. I'm currently using a Kef Q7 7.1 set-up and am going to be upgrading to the Q900 package once I have got my listening/viewing room redesigned.

  • They look incredible! Maybe it's the camera's lag that make it much easier to notice the woofer moving. How much did you pay for a pair of Q900? I can't seem to find them in local store or even a price on the Internet.

Tell me if I'm wrong but if I get it right, with ur current Q900 that have a freq range of (32Hz - 40Khz), if you'd get a Q400b subwoofer (28Hz - 140Hz) you would only gain a un-noticeable 4Hz in the lower spectrum, that's all no other benifit?!?

  • i love the sound these speakers put out. i hope to buy a pair sometime. whats up with the horrible placement? they need to be away from the wall and lined up in stereo angles.
