Where did people from Taiwan come from? I am telling you, from Taiwan. Aboriginal people had been live in Taiwan at least 12,000 years. Get the fact. The majority of people there are native Taiwanese. I am native Taiwanese, there is no evident what so ever that my faimily were from China!

maybe not the the race, but he grows up in the US basketball style rather than the Chinese/Taiwanese style; which gives him a huge advantage over the players in asia. It is harder for Yao to match the team needed and a learn curve from Chinese basketball leage to NBA.

what sucks is that in the NBA great basket ball players are over looked like Jeremy Lin was, collage and in the NBA. i hope Jeremy Lin gets more playing time this upcoming season if there is one. and I hope this this will show the NBA not to over look great players based on height or race. But they do because height is some what of a big factor in basket ball. but race should not have anything to do with it. I am a Laker fan but if they suck this year GO Golden State Warriors!!

@TaiwaneseNOTChinese calm down buddy. You just sound ignorant when you keep stating that he is "Taiwanese" where do you think the people from Taiwan came from??? think about it. Either way being chinese or taiwanese doesn't matter. He is a great player and he is representing for asian americans whom as a group have always been seen as scholars with no athletic talent, finally asian americans have someone to represent us athletically on a "real" level and you are still busy spreading hate. chill.
