  • I have a dc4 that i want to restore, where did you get that black manifold cover thing. Nice tractor thanks

  • @SheaClayFarms1

    Hi and thanks!

It is not a manifold cover, it is a black painted pre-heating chamber for petroleum (I don't know if petroleum is the exact and correct translation of what we call petroleum). In that time petrol was not used in Europe, so our petroleum had to be pre-heated.

  • Good God that is beautiful! Is it hand start only?

  • @pdutube

It's my fathers work and he says thank you very much! It can also be started with the battery.

  • It needs rear fenders! Beautiful Restoration!

  • @aknabea

    My father says thanks!

The rear fenders are ordered months ago in the USA, but have not been shipped to The Netherlands yet.

  • the pre-heater was for using fuels like Kerosene. Those tractors had 2 fuel tanks. One for the gasoline (petrol) which was smaller and used to warm up the engine and then when shutting down, to flush the kero out of the carb. Back in the 20s and 30s kerosene was only 2-4 cents a gallon vs 10 cents for gasoline (as my dad recalled.)

  • @Arneaux1978 in Britain the fuel was known as tractor vapourising oil (tvo) its similar to parrafin
