When we pick the maang (leaves) of the far (pandanus), we remove the mwonanmaang (thorns). They hurt if you prick yourself. The good leaves are the ripe ones. These are the bad parts (the base and the end). We throw away these no-good parts. We divide the leaves. Then we roll
the strips. This is called aoun. We use the knife to make them straight.
