In UK director Matthew Hope's chilling post-apocalyptic suvivors tale THE VANGUARD, the world is in chaos -- the last known oil fields have been vanquished, over-population has reached critical levels and mankind is about to become a thing of the past.

Out of this apocalyptic nightmare, an entity known only as the Corporation devised a course of action to cull the human race and initialize a depopulation program. But the drug they created to kill instead reduces humans to a primitive ape-like state, now known as Biosyns. Their sight reduced to virtual blindness, the Biosyns rely on scent and sound to survive, running wild in the unpopulated countryside.

But for Max -- a young man cast adrift into the wilderness to live as a hunter/gatherer-- the Biosyns are the enemy, and must be fought in order to preserve his very existence. Max has forged a life without human contact, and every day is a battle to stay alive.

Soon the Biosyns begin to evolve -- learning first to communicate, then banding together, their vision slowly returning -- and now they're coming for Max.

Unbeknownst to Max, the Corporation has dispatched a group of genetically engineered soldiers -- known as Trackers -- to wipe out the Biosyns and to hunt down and kill Max, fearing he may be the antidote to the world they created... I'm not trying to say anything bad about the movie, since I haven't seen it (and it does look pretty good) but it seems that if the setting of the film is in a devestatingly overpopulated world, you would think there isn't a large unpopulated countryside....seems like a minor plot hole. I think I'm gonna watch this movie later, I love zombie movies (or similar to zombie)

Hey, thanks for the comment. The film starts after a giant corporation has eradicated a large percentage of the urban dwelling population with an experimental drug.

Some survivors have retreated into the country side where there are less of the Biosyns to deal with, and one can eek out a life. A bloody life, but still better than being trapped in a building with thousands of these monsters running around.

it is not a question of being brainwashed by hollywood or a question of low budget or shitty theories like that. This is really one of the worst film I've seen in my entire life. You cannot go furhter than half an hour.

It looks like the movie that me and my cousin used to shoot when we were twelve years old. Just trash it.
