@sondano I have to say I agree that they made 'Live long and prosper' sound more like up yours, but I applaud Spock for saying it then! Not entirely sure what I think of the new Spock ... but I definately prefer the old!

@henevmael well Quinto sure looks like a ticking time bomb all the time. He achieved the impossible: made Spock repulsive. Live long and prosper is what Spock said to Kirk  just before he died and that punk made that wonderful phrase sound like fuck you. Shame on him and JJ for ruining such a lovable icon.

And a last thing .I do not thing the choice of name for Spock's race in the series was a coinsidece.They were volcanic in nature and logic and non emotion is their way of dealing with it and avoid exploding.

And don't forget that despite being half human his vulcan half is endeed incapable of emotions as humans perceive them (they were systematically bred out of the race). So to him the comment "show and follow your emotion" sounds like "do something of wich you are mostly incapable and go down a wrong ,shamefull and potentially dangerous path and don't fight against your weaker half.....(and in this strugle he is all the time and is visable).

I think the humans around him did not realize that this took an effort on his part and that their comments to him sounded like insults on the whole Vulcan philosophy and culture(despite having a human mother he was brought up in it and his mother choose a vulcan pertner after all). Also non emotion is the right way for all Vulcans to avoid self distraction given their ancient personality trades/past .

I really love this video because of my love for Leonard Nimoy and Spock and of the choice of song .I agree he took a lot of abuse simply because he was not human .Most tried to change him/reform him/humanize them or they were just making jokes at his expense. And poor Spock was only trying to be what his fellow vulcans and his father expected from a proper Vulcan.
