@vansboi. I'd love to see this made into a three-part documentary, then a movie!!

Thanks for posting - using this story in a speech - just remarkable. Thank you.

This is what makes me so proud to be a Don. I use to walk into Memorial Auditorium and they would have the stories of some of the football players who never came back from WW2, and it reminds me that there were some great guys who walked the halls of USF!!!!!

makes me wonder where USF could be right now had there football program not gone under.

This is really one of the saddest stories in college football history. And it was great that the Dons were rebellious to the stipulation of leaving behind their black players. The University of San Francisco would probably still have football if it weren't for this. Now San Diego is the only West Coast Conference school with football (and they're a great football school). Unless... other WCC schools reinstate football. Never known how much further this school could go without this incident.

I'm sorry. Correction: #72 for the Dons. #67 was for the Redskins.
GO DONS!

My Grandpa played for 1951 Dons, #67 Louis Stephens and went on to play for the Redskins. Unfortunately he passed about three years ago, but I tell ya, my Grandma was so happy when she saw this during the Fiesta Bowl. Thank you Tostitos for telling their story!

Go Dons!

Beautiful story of men who did the right thing. Thank you and congratulations to Frito Lay for bringing it to light.

Beautiful story. Gutsy group of young men. Thank you Tostitos for bringing it to light.
My dad played for the 1951 USF Dons and it was truly an amazing team with an incredible story!
