i have a comet goldfish in a 20 gallon and he does the same thing at the surface opening its mouth is it ok?

@redraidersfan6 As long as he has an air stone and the water is good, he probably is okay. Mine don't do it all the time. But they do things like peck at the thermometer, gather up gravel, take it to the top and spit it out, and go to the surface gulping [they always seem to be searching for food because I only feed them in the morning]. @gonetotheright i just have a question, i have had my Comet goldfish for idk about a year and a half and hes a pretty big fish now haha. i kind of want too get him another buddy because in his own 35 gallon tank, he looks lonely. Can they deal with other goldfish good? because i had 2 goldfish before them, two different kinds and they eat each other O.o.. please respond~Crystal

@puffinlover74 Hi Crystal, You could try an equal sized and equally aggressive comet or several smaller comets. They seem to like to be in schools and chase each other around. Mine have always been together in this tank and they get along very well.

@gonetotheright yeah i think hes ok, he gulps when he sees food or me, and hes always playing with the gravel so hes fine
