From Remigiusz Sowa best Documentary Transmitter Award winner at the Crystal Palace International Film Festival; a truly remarkable story of Father Lazarus El Anthony, university lecturer, Marxist who abandoned his life in Australia and went in search of God and freedom. His pilgrimage eventually brought him to a life of a Christian Coptic monk and live in solitude on the Al-Qalzam Mountain (Egypt) in the pursuit of what the Desert Fathers called apatheia, holy stillness.

  • Awesome video, but he's certainly not the only nor will he be the last anchorite! Monasticism is flourishing in Egypt...

  • VERY WONDERFUL I LOVE IT, KEEP IT UP. I'm a Deacon of the Eritrean Tewahdo Church and we are the same faith as the Coptics. I am also an motion artists, i create animations, videos and motion graphics. I feel the faithful artists of this generations are going to inspire billions with the films they create. The Passion of Christ was wonderful but God Willing we as Oriental Orthodox Christians can bring to life and create something more, something greater something the world has never seen!!!

  • Give Us This Change, LORD plz

  • Can anyone tell me what wind instrument this is at 2:41? It's so beautiful! God bless all!

  • @janhough We're all called to different walks of lives in the Body of Christ. It's not either or, but both. In Orthodoxy, the answer to most questions that divide so many Roman Catholics and Protestants, is usually the answer that is somewhere in between. We even see this throughout the entire Bible. What matters is we do God's will on this earth, and strive to draw closer to him in any place or situation we are put in.

  • God bless these brave man who give up earthly materialism in exchange for their salvation and to seek God realization.

It's sad to see the horrific situation in the middle east.

    Hare Krishna. :)

  • God bless and save our Orthodox brothers and sisters in Egypt!

  • I hope the Copt monks in Egypt will be safe now that muslims have a sharia fundamental government..I pray for them all..Christians are gonna be persecuted more than ever..thios is a beautiful story of salvation for Lazarus

  • @FineArtCritics

It was a reading from The Psalm not a hymn really...Orthodox in general like to usually read in that way.

  • @skanick82 Lets hope this revolution in Egypt does not put into place Muslim brotherhood leaders which would effectively kill monasticism over there

  • There are many wonderful people on the planet that anchor the love energy into it. Most are not protected by the Church and nor did Christ have any such protection. Yes, Christ did tell people to leave their family and friends if they chose to follow him.

The bible warned the people not build upon his foundations with building materials. That meant no religious buildings. The Church ignored his teachings.

  • 3:40 that is one holy rugged desert monk cat lol
