  • Shawn, hi from the UK. I've only recently found you and have been cramming in your videos like crazy. Your enthusiasm really rubs off and I can't wait to get to the range. I have two questions/requests. Firstly, it would be great to go over setup and alignment basics for the newbies starting this spring. Secondly, I'd really like to hear your take on exercises we can do at the gym (or at home) & another on flexibility.

  • @MrDatimms I will be coming out with a special DVD series for newbies which we are in the process of shooting; as for the rest, we have been talking about it on my forum and we have many good suggestions in there; come on over and join in! :) Shawn

  • Snake oil salesman. ALL golfers reach 90% of their potential inside 1-3 years, the hackers stay that way, those with natural talent play a different game. Golf teachers are the latter and I've never seen ONE of them produce a true hacker-to-decent-swing, pupil. They have NO CLUE what it feels like NOT to able to hit the ball well. This guy is scratch from BOTH sides, it's called talent. Some people can draw but it's a gift & they don't kid everyone they could too with a little practice.

  • @noscaming Before you say such stupidities on you tube and make yourself look incredibly bad, have a look at my 10 million hits and 10 thousand plus true blue subscribers; then see that I have over 182 full blown lessons and if you are looking for players, I have over 80 per week at my learning centre who improve every single season and who are ready to take your money; I am so sorry that you have been so jaded in your life that you need to make others join your misery; not here pal; get lost!

  • @noscaming Shawn's taught me for the last 2 yrs. It took me 6 months to unlearn the mistakes I picked over the years as a hopeless hacker, 1 year to develop a natural swing, and 6 months to stop thinking about hitting the ball. In 2 years my slice and hook are gone, I can draw, fade with ease, and compress the ball like never before. It's no way natural talent, just a great teacher and willingness to open your mind to new thinking. I cant wait to see what year 3 brings me. Good luck with yours.

  • @oldTOtaper Very good! This is pretty much the amount of time it realistically takes to make the improvements come to life; and I am sure you enjoyed the process on the way and this is the most important part! You keep plotting along and enjoy each lesson, hit the range and with some developing awareness, you wake up a couple years later full of confidence and wide open option in front of you! Thanks for the great comment! Shawn

  • Hi Shawn, Your general lessons have made my swing action remain the same just given it a more natural rhythmic feeling with crisp contact at a higher %age.

I can fade the ball well with all my clubs, although the ball always starts slightly right of where i want it to start and then fades leaving me wide right of my target usually. Am i missing something?

(For diagnostic purposes) I have a slightly strong grip with 3-4 knuckles showing which i shift to a neutral position to play the fade too.

  • Excellent video presentation and instruction. Ball position advice makes it do much easier to understand and perform than other ways I have tried.

  • Also, my natural shot is a slight draw (maybe because of my strong grip), but when i 'TRY' to play a draw, i usually end up pulling it dead straight left (or the occasional top). I feel like i need to learn how to TRY and play a draw for more control of my shot shaping.

Maybe it's a good idea to just use my natural strong grip whenever i want to hit a draw? or is that too inconsistent a method?

Hope this isn't too much to ask; Any help would be appreciated; as all your videos have been Sir :)

  • @Fo12dy When playing the ball back, it is important to get centred behind the ball and then understand that the swing is not starting from a static position; you will feel like you need to swing the club more inside from this back of centre position and you should not; see the blur of the club head in front of you as you perform the perpetual motion drill and mimic this arc when you are ready to go with the ball; we have a couple nice threads on this in our forum and you should have a look!

  • I started golf 5 years ago and would have loved to know this instructor, back then. I've watched a lots of video's from different instructors, Leadbetter, Harmon, Els, Mclean, but no one explains it better that Mr. Clement, he gives you the mechanics, the why, and especially in my case, hitting the ball with out starting with your arms.

He does all these videos, and doesn't ask for a dime because he loves what he is doing and wants to share his knowledge

  • Little confused about the draw. I aim to where I want the ball to end up, but I swing the momentum to the right?

  • @noscaming Like others, I too, have been using these teachings for about 3 years. A year to forget the old, a year to learn a new way of thinking, and just this year I am finally able to get rid of the focus on that pesky ball. Can now draw really well, just having some difficulties in grasping the concept with fades (which hopefully will be this year). I went from a huge slice tendancy to having a natural draw.

I'm not sure what he's selling, as you can benefit from all of this for FREE.

  • Hi Shawn, Honestly I feel more comfortable playing straight and get better results rather than thinking about fades and draws. Of course focus is of utmost importance but I feel that one has to be very precise in getting to the target by "working the ball".

Also though unrelated, wanted to get your inputs/views on "Niblick" by Cleveland. Is it a good idea to have it in the bag or not. Thanks.
