Police respond: 100 gang members in the park

On August 2, 2009 there were about 100 teens having a social function at Norman O Houston Park on La Brea & Stocker in Baldwin Hills.


The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department decided ........

.....into the park and to break up the gathering. For about 20 minutes the police had been planning their strategy to enter the park. Someone .......... were 100 gang members in the park, but as far as we knew there were no crimes being perpetrated among the teens gathering.

After the helicopter .......................the police moved on the group by blocking both entrances of the parking lot which was on the east side of La Brea. They then began to frisk and check people who were in the cars or who were driving in the parking lot. They told people to disburse, they took a few people into custody and they searched every car before it left the park. Many of the teens believed that the police harassed them and responded unnecessarily.
