We take the Yamaha GO46 Firewire interface into Gearwire Studio where Bill Holland and his magical floating screen closely inspect the unit. This Audio / MIDI interface is ideal for home recording use and DJ use, but beware -- it has a bulky power unit!

Stay tuned for backstage footage of the rest of the GW crew stopping Bill from throwing the rugged GO46 against a wall.

  • i will never buy anything from Yamaha again! This interface cost me 300€ 2 years ago, and now no drivers for windows 7 or Mac 1.6, I want my money back!!! I can not use my 300€ interface because yamaha don´t care about their clients...FUCK YOU YAMAHA!!!

Don´t buy Yamaha products they don´t support their clients

  • @martianspy Yeah, gave up on Windows too..... UP TO NOW, on Mac, no one problem, whatsoever................ but thanks anyway!

  • @DimeCrisBag I haven't tried it in boot camp with Windows, but I had issues with this in Vista on my PC. Every time I would plug in an external hard drive to the firewire port, windows would overwrite the driver for the GO46. I gave up using it in windows because I would keep having to uninstall and reinstall it to get it to work.

Currently I'm using it on the mac OS, but the volume level seems screwed up.

  • Im.......trying......to use it in a Windows, in a bootcamp of a Mac, but Windows wouldnt recognise it......any kind and clever soul knows what might be happening?

  • @fojeba no it dosen't work with pro tools, only m-audio and digidesign interfaces works with pro tools. 2, I haven't heard this interface but yamaha usally make's good stuff, but i prefer m-audio interfaces really good interfaces!!!! low noise preamps.

  • Sorry for butting in, but, Yamaha have discontinued the GO46 audio interface, i was myself about to buy one as they where on sale, thoughts that support for a discontinued device would just wont be the same made me go for a ECHO Audiofire 4 and a pair of AKG K.-240 Studio headphones,, this combination also ended my quest for the ultimate sound.. there are "better" solutions out there im sure, but what do i care when Winamp with a ASIO and a 96khz plugin takes me to Nirvana.

  • Hi Sir ,

1-does it work with pro tools sw?

2-is better or the samething as digidesign interface?

  • One correction to your video. The wall wart is NOT required ! You can power the device from your firewire port. This is why it is a mobile recording device.

  • i want to record in my computer with this.

i want to put it in my mixer and record Can i?
