    Women like this are why the majority of the intellectual community doesn't take feminism serious. The majority of women involved in the feminism community havn't even read-up on feminism, and they create sexism where non exists. She is planing a feminism race card. If feminism is to move forward the advocates need to read on the subject and present evidence for what they say, I feel bad about a man be interested in me, is not evidence; its a confused petty statement about your personal feelings.

    Right on... these people around here are acting brand new. When I invite a woman to a hotel room at 4am, it's not because I want coffee... regardless of the pretext.

    Overreacted by simply saying no and heading to her room? Or overreacted by spending 30 seconds of a video about the conference mentioning it?

    She definitely blew it out of proportion.

    What the man probably wanted is just natural and even though she obviously didn't want the same things all she had to do was say no, getting creeped out by the idea of casual sex is out of place at an atheist convention, I understand that she might have been more catious being alone in a foreign country but there are precautions you can take eg. pepper spray

    She over-reacted to something very normal, end of story.

    No problem there, just to add even though he was probably coming on to her I think she over reacted.

    That is definitely possible, but also definitely unlikely, given the context.

    I don't disagree with you, I'm just saying she could have made a mistake.

    a) She never described the man in those terms;

    b) You're comparing a very different and, more importantly, IMAGINARY situation to one that did happen;

    c) You assume you know what her response to your non-equivalent and imaginary situation is, and;

    d) You then take your assumption to offer an unconvincing rhetorical question.

    Possible, but in the context it occurred (4am in a hotel, after she'd said she was tired, etc.), not a very likely explanation.

    I've never been to an Atheist convention either. I have no desire to seek out atheists in large numbers. As Groucho Marx said, "I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member."

    Maybe there are some people who misbehave. Who knows? But "Elevator Guy" did not. And while the number of men to women may be disproportionate, a man should not be accused of certain things just because he thinks a woman is attractive/interesting and wants to talk to her.
