I'm not going to hate a person because of who they are, what they believe, who they like sexually, what their skin color is, or where they come from. But I get called a "Fat American" by everyone outside of my country. I get called an infidel by extremist Muslims. I am lumped in with racists because of my skin color. I get called a sexist and homophobic because of my gender. So I'll be tolerant, I'll love all of you. But you won't ever love me.

That's what racists use to justify their hate. No one shoots a white man because of the colour of his skin and no one, but Europeans think you are fat. The word Infidel is a term in Christianity which the Church developed to define the concept of infidelity, which makes a clear differentiation between those who were baptised versus those who are outside the faith. The term infidel was used by Christians to describe those perceived as the enemies (anyone outside their faith).
