This song isn't about heartbreak its about eros -- passionate love. The Greeks called eros the "Tyrant of Gods and Men" and considered it a form or madness or disease. With Danzig's interest in the occult and classical history it's no surpise for him to draw on this. Read the Roman love poets Propertius and Ovid. The original version of cupid -- i.e eros and the erotes didn't carry a bow they carried whips and torches. To love is to be burned and to feel pain.

As of now all comments relating to religon will be removed. Athiets have ruined such comments by trying to prove that they're correct. This has gotten Christians mad.
It's a song actually comment on it instead of preaching.

Religion is just another god damn way to bitch. Shut the fuck up and listen to the fucking song you came here for. Not to talk about fucking "Religion".

@tomlibrary Again, the very mention of the word Tyrant denotes one who forces themselves into control and controls by force. Passionate love is neither controlling or forceful.

@tomlibrary I thought eros was more along the lines of lust. Hence the consideration of a form of madness/disease (i.e. driven out of control by lustful desires) In this sense the songs meaning could be thought of as a symbolism for uncontrollable desires(Devil) mastering the person(plaything).

@TheTripledz There's also a third, Estorge, love of an inanimate object.
