  • Medicaid is for the poorest of the poor. It has nothing to do with the middle class.

Since your family is classified as middle class why didn't you spend some of your middle class money on medical insurance? The answer is because it wasn't a priority before your dad had a heart attack. This country provides you with freedoms, one such freedom is your right to spend your money how you want. You're family decided not to spend it on health care. Am I missing something?

  • There are lots of people who can't get medicaid.

  • @hoshnasi He cannot predict the future. Due to this fundamental problem of imperfect information about the future, medical insurance (as well as other kinds) will always be under-consumed, irrespective of the market structure of the insurance business.

  • In all fairness, lets not forget that our present system is a giant monopoly, all the way from the insurance companies and the American Medical Association.

  • @herbs814 not to mention that when millions of illegals go to the emergency room the people with insurance pay for that in much higher premiums

  • @donze52 Fortunately I am now on my wifes plan...and....ironically she now works for a health insurance company. The only way I could afford the $8,500 health insurance years ago was that I was living with my parents. I had to decide weather I was going to live on my own or be insured. I have had health issues all my life so i chose the health insurance over being independent. I also had dental issues for many years as well. I was completely broke the first 40 years of my life

  • @inkey2

if you can afford it, but I make just over $10G a year, how does that work?"

I would like to eat and pay utilities?

  • @donze52 teah, I was paying $8500 a year. Thats what you will pay if your employer does not offer insurance

  • 1200 a year???? before I was able to get on my wifes plan where she works it cost me $8500 a year

  • @RawJewel The government's intrustion into the health insurance market is precisely why health insurance is not affordable. Government mandates, regulations, tax(theft)and redistribution schemes are why health insurance is too costly.

The reason health insurance is costly is because the government is too intrusive. The reason companies create jobs overseas is because the tyrannical government makes it impractical to hire in the US. Government is to blame for lack of insurance and jobs.

  • Propaganda, how can we be so sure that the people who speak in this "documentary" tell the truth?

  • @herbs814 This is one carefully selected case. I am a substitute teacher and trust me, my salary is no where near 2300 a month. I have no health insurance and like most others like me, really cannot afford it. The average cost of health for a family of 4 is more than $30,000/year! As of the end of 2010, the insurance company had increased their profits 41%!!!!!! The main reason jobs are going overseas is to help corporations avoid insurance costs! You are delusional!!
