Another feeding...
Joboa got a bit too anxious to get his food. Notice how lightning fast he strikes even when played at half speed. If I was within striking range, there is no way I would be able to react and move away without being bitten. The rest of the time he is the thamest snake and never hisses or bytes, but comes feeding time and he shows his true colors. I hope you enjoyed the video and SUBSCRIBE to me!

  • Hey dud did You say you were feeding the snake 10 mice and one large rat? If so that is called power feeding it and it will shorten the life of the snake. 1 Large rat a week is plenty to feed it. I have a female red tail boa and she is 6' 6" and she is almost 2 years old. You are feeding that snake way too much at one time!!!!

  • @badassrott You have no idea what you are talking about. The weight of the boa was 30 lbs at the time and 10 mice + 1 xlg rat = to less than 2lbs. Large snakes like that are normly fed 3-4 pound rabbits oonce a month.

  • Joboa i am curious as to why you feed your snakes in a separate box or tray....i've seen other videos where the owner does this too. I used to have two Royal Pythons and just chucked the live mice in the tank and it was fine, but that was a long time ago...maybe things have changed. I have now got a baby boa and have been doing as i did before....chucking the food in the tank....he doesn't seem to mind, but is a feeding box/tray necessary?

  • @JaenAlbatros It's a good practice to use a feeding box because over time the snake becomes " Classically conditioned " (look this term up on wikipedia if you not sure what it means, I just don't have the space to explain it here ). Thus feeding response is induced by placing the snake in the feeding box where there is residual food scent. Feeding your snake in it's cage conditions it to associate objects entering the cage with food and you risk being bitten if the snake is hungry.

  • Keeping a boa as a pet? you sir is one Retarded fellow

  • @gayproud1 Based on your comment I can infer that you are a complete idiot ! I'm really concerned for the wellbeing of your snakes. Do more research or let someone else more competent take care of them !

  • you should just feed it 2-3 rats. saves time and mice are like junk food. not to much nutrition from mice

  • Jesus Christ ! The speed it grabbed the rat !

  • @badassrott that's what I was thinking! good Point!

  • @gayproud1 And what on earth do you mean, your snake knows right from wrong?? It's a wild animal for F**ks sake!!!

  • @gayproud1 You slap your snake across the face???? Omg, that is cruel!! You should NEVER hit animals! I hope somebody that knows you reports you to the RSPCA!

  • @J0Boa Ahh, I see....that is a very good point...I guess I was lucky in the past, as my pythons never struck at me, but then again, I did just tip the mice in from the box that I had just brought from the pet shop, coz I really could not handle live mice, yuk! Snakes are infinitely more preferable to handle! lol.

I will devise a feeding box in time for the next feeding and will also look up the term you mention as no, i have not heard of it before.

Thanks a lot for the information. :)
