  • I wonder how many people commenting here use a spray for their own teeth or clean tartar off their teeth with a sharp metal object ( a screwdriver? really?). Obviously people do need to be informed that pets need to see a professional to have their teeth cleaned. Teeth are teeth people. Dog, cat, human they all need the same care

Oh and for the record that spray you see commercials for contains essential oils which have been proven to be TOXIC and cause liver and kidney damage.

  • My Doberman lets me scrape the hard tarter off his teeth. I use one of those metal curved dental picks and that crap chips right off like magic. i can do his whole mouth in about 20 minutes, that includes a good brushing after the tarter removal.

If you dont have one of these tools you can purchase at your local drug store for a few dollars.

If your dog is neurotic and it doesn't trust you and/or you don't trust it then you will get bit...don't do this.

  • Available at any grocery or pet food store! Made by pedigree

  • Dentastix used daily for about two weeks took 99% of the tartar off my dog's teeth. It's about 50 cents a day for the large ones.

  • @richyokevin

they DO work you just have to give it time

tartar isnt as soft as candy m'kay? its almost as hard as your teeth

and a solution may take months for it to dissolve

  • ps. those spray solutions don't work

  • Junk video. What value does this video add?

I was looking for a video that shows me what apparatus to use and how to clean tartar.. Would love to see some.

  • oh and by the way, the vast majority of these ehow videos are complete junk

  • It is actually quite easy, you just have to get your pet used to touching its mouth over the course of a few weeks. I use a small flat head screwdriver to scale it off. Once you get one tinypiece off, the rest of the tartar covering the tooth just flakes off easily.

  • they sell a spray for dogs that dissolves tartar

this guy is in it for the money...
