Demonstrating Citrix HDX 3D for Professional Graphics over an Internet connection , using a realtime HDR lighting tool which utilizes the DirectX based Nvidia GT220 card in a rackmounted and hosted PC.
This is actually the least favorable scenario for HDX3D because it's fully optimized for Nvidia Quadro with CUDA, and using "simple" GPU's like a DirectX based "gamer card" like the GT will result in higher bandwidth (2-5 MBit using Quadro vs 4-8 Mbit using cheap cards, based on the fullscreen output of this benchmarking tool at near max quality) and less quality (slightly lower framerates but picture quality is still adjustable). So this is the minimum you can expect from remoting into a 3D box. Still pretty damn impressive! Didnt have budget for a Quadro card because that's really awesome to see. Besides the GPU in the server there are no specific hardware requirements on the client other than a reasonable CPU (anything lower than an Atom 330 might be impacting performance) . So this runs perfectly well over a HSDPA connection , because we can also endure high latency of up to 300ms.
Captured with Fraps, which causes a little framedrop unfortunately when it runs on my home pc , so it actually is much more smoother than it looks, but that's something you have to see for yourself.
