I build this oak enclosure from scratch to basically be an end table, and the main plan was to hide ALOT of the components and wires.

You'll notice that it has an integral power supply/surge protector, and the unit also contains my cable modem and router. I also customized all of the cabling by cutting them shorter to the exact lengths needed to remove all of the excess wiring.

I bored out one of the four legs , which routes the main power wire up into the power strip portion of it without being visible at all.

Total cost was about $200.

  • no offence, but this is kinda fail :/ You could have aranged the internals better so its safer for the mobo and cables. also add more stuff in it :o

  • @iToasterman You call it a fail? This is coming from someone who's claim to fame is sticking things to a wall.

There's nothing that's unsafe for the motherboard and cables at all, and I have no idea where you got the idea that it was. Also, why "add more stuff to it"? I added all of the things that run the computer into the enclosure, and there's nothing more to add, and no reason to do it. It's laid out for cooling and access, not a "cram stuff in" contest.

  • that would be really cool if you put a handle on the dvd drive thing to make it look like a drawer

  • @bestpctips I thought about that, but I didn't want someone grabbing the handle and pulling on it thinking it was a drawer and screwing my drive up in the process. :-)

  • clearly baught that powerd box maybe made for a pc .. faggit

  • @shithustler420 Did I buy it? er...."baught" it. Freakin' idiot

I'd love for you to find one for sale ANYWHERE. I have about 4 hours into making just that power strip alone, and all done with wood dowels, wood glue and precision cuts, no screws or nails used at all.

In the day of Walmart and Ikea, some people just can't grasp the concept of real craftsmanship
