BJ Penn is an example of how MMA has progressed in only 5 or so years. He is a great technical fighter but I think his strength and genetic potential left him out matched against some of the modern super athletes like GSP.

For all the people here thinking that their the same size as bj and can lift heavier, good for you!....but I guarantee after 25 minutes in an octagon you wouldn't be able to lift more than him and that's the difference between beach muscles and a conditioned athlete.

@meetchvb how is it bodybuilding ? mma requires pushing (chest/triceps) and pulling (biceps/back) and alot of punching (shoulders) and alot of twisting (core)
