sperm whale at hunstanton.

This sperm whale was washed up at Old Hunstanton Beach, Christmas Eve.....Unfortunately someone has used a chainsaw and took away his teeth.
Sperm whales are easily recognized by their massive heads and prominent rounded foreheads. They have the largest brain of any creature known to have lived on Earth. Their heads also hold large quantities of a substance called spermaceti. Whalers once believed that the oily fluid was sperm, but scientists still do not understand the function of spermaceti. One common theory is that the fluid—which hardens to wax when cold—helps the whale alter its buoyancy so it can dive deep and rise again. Sperm whales are known to dive as deep as 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) in search of squid to eat. These giant mammals must hold their breath for up to 90 minutes on such dives.

I confronted several groups of morons when I was there on friday, the thing is I just couldnt believe how many people were acting in this way, it was by no means a minority. I wanted so much to be able to have burried into the sands to put an end to the nasty circus for the poor creature but this was obviously not physically possible. I only hope from what I witnessed that if a whale in distress ever gets beached and is in need of rescue in the future that it doesn't land up at old hunstanton

@supaordinary I'm afraid that is the people of today, no respect for anything,even the dead,where was the Enviromental health? where was the International whaling Commision?

This is supposed to be a private beech, but i guess all the owners of the establishments around are more concerned about how much money they can earn from this event...I really hope no animal in distress gets whashed up...i shudder to think what would happen.

Previous to going myself I had thought that all the all papers describing those visiting the whale as 'ghouls' would prove very unfair and that in actual fact they were just people interested in a rare chance to see this special creature albeit sadly in death.. how wrong I was! the majority were not only ghouls they were absolute fucking morons out for a thrill,.... NEW YEAR lookout ! .. ' YOU CANNOT SAVE WHAT YOU DO NOT LOVE '

i went to see it. im not a "ghoul" just like nature and thought i would take the opportunity to see this creature in the flesh rather than in a museum covered in fibre-glass and plastics.. not suprised it has been mutilated and disrespected it is in norfolk remember.
