Whilst the rest of the northern hemisphere is shivering indoors China has embraced the Big Freeze and launched it's famous world famous Ice and Snow Festival, providing a welcome distraction to the bitterly cold weather.

It's the 26th festival of its kind in Harbin City (Heilongjiang province) a veritable 'winter wonderland' for visitors from China and across the world.

More than 50,000 people are expected to enjoy huge ice buildings in architectural styles from across the globe, including giant pagodas, enormous ice Buddhas and even ice slides for the more adventurous.

The winter in China this year has been bitingly cold and the lowest temperature in Harbin so far has been, wait for it, -34 degrees Celsius! The festival organisers won't mind though as they plan to run through to early February.

  • Fantastic!

  • @extermininja Sounds like you are the one who does not understand "global". You quoted the temperature in Harbin, and then proceeded to ask where's the global warming. And then got on the case of someone who answered @ the South Pole. You are just so ironic.

  • @mvirtuallyhere tldr

  • @MusicforMe123 "everyone in the entire country" are YOUR words!

Every last citizen of a nation does not have to be criminal for the nation to be correctly characterized as criminal; only the more significant number need be criminal

The fact that UK & US have historically been warmonger nations, does not mean that every last citizen of those warmonger nations favor war; some citizens are even going to be too young to know the difference between war & peace

  • @nirbija So everyone in the entire country is to blame, even the innocent.

  • @MusicforMe123 One does not need to meet every individual of a country to know what the collective represents. And it is the collective of a country that elects OR ALLOWS it government.

There may be 'good and bad in every culture'; but the collective is EITHER good or bad

The Chinese, even with 1.4 BILLION citizens, is the lesser threat to world peace than those smaller nations that have historically invaded, mass murdered, robbed, raped, kidnapped, enslaved, colonized & sodomized others

  • @nirbija You need to get out and meet the people of these countries you feel so strongly about. Don't blame a race for what their government does. There is good and bad in every culture.

  • @MusicforMe123 China "on their way up"?

Do you even know world history? Didn't think so

China has been "up" for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. That is why they have the ability to transform their society of 1.4 BILLION in a flash, without sacrificing stability

Euros may be the ones on "their way up" from beastly history of criminal invasions, mass murdering, raping, kidnapping, enslaving, colonizing & sodomizing; but don't hold your breath for that euro "up"!

  • @nirbija Now now, China may be on their way up, but westerners are hardly beastly. Let's not get racist or political..................just enjoy the wonders of China.
