Without art and artists, comic books are just words. And what would be the point of that? Ron, Josh, and Conor talk about what makes up their favorite comic book art, what some of the early favorites were, and who is doing the best artwork in comic books today. The idea of art is certainly subjective, but there are a few things all three can agree on; things like Darwyn Cooke, for example. From style to to storytelling, and artists who used to draw one way, and now do it another, we try to cover as much as we can.

Frank Quitely. It's so colourful, fun, and detailed.

My favorite comic-book artist has to be JH Williams III. His art is so diverse and sets the tone perfectly. He knows how to control the atmosphere. He uses so many different styles too, some stuff is very comic-booky and other stuff is almost like Alex Ross but more fluid.

When you guys are talking about Neal Adams, you are actually showing Jim Aparo's art. Of course Aparo's Batman was influenced by Adams'.

@IHS7 I've wondered the same. My guess would be that they tape a whole bunch of them when they're together and realize them over a period of time.

It took me some time to come to appreciate the genius of Jack Kirby. But now there's no denying what an incredible influence he had on the entire medium of comic books. A true legend.

Art is very subjective. I have people look through my sketchbooks. No one person really likes the same sketch the most.
