This is the Warlock and Hellfire Warlock class with Kaedrin's pack installed.

This video shows the new invocation, Hellspawned Grace that turns you into a hellhound.

And changes to Word of Changing (Pit Fiend for evil characters, default Cornugon for not evil characters and Erinyes for female Warlocks.
Also Guttural Invocations feat that enables to cast in those shapes, similarly to Natural Spell for Druids.
Enjoy!

  • @Tiars666tiamat Vanilla = original/unedited game. Mine has the official patches. Kaedrin's changes how a load of rules work, with too many releases, hard to keep track of (like the SR bug fix)

I don't want my crpgs rules to be the same as textbook D&D rules. I have 3 mods installed... I'm thinking that's too much for me already, and just going vanilla + romance mod.

Like I said before, I played BG, IWD, NWN1/2 before with mods, so it's not like I don't know how pc files work :P

  • @Elciled There's nothing vanilla about not using Kaedrin's pack in my opinion. Kaedrin's pack is like a (class/feat/race/spell) expansion pack and an unofficial patch together. It adds, improves and fixes stuff in other words. It's like refusing to install an expansion pack or updating the game :P

Some fixes are not compatible with Kaedrin's pack. Like Reeron's Spell Fixes for example or Complete Craftsman. I suggest using the one you prefer. I vote for Kaedrin's personally.

  • @Tiars666tiamat I prefer easy, like I said before, my main interest is story/roleplay, and BG's has some frustrating combat IMO.

I have a bunch of other mods/fixes, I was just wondering about Kaedrin's. Since I'm not planning on playing twice, I'm not sure if I want to experience vanilla warlock and spells or Kaedrin's... usually I like to play something closer to vanilla first. But I'll give it a try.

  • @Elciled If you want a challenge similar to BG, raise the difficulty to Hardcore or Very Difficult. I believe NwN2's Very Difficult is Core Rules of BG, because Very Difficult only doubles the damage you receive and you get maximum HP at each level up.

If you want more challenge and smarter enemies and friends but not TOO smart, get Tony K's AI also. It makes everything smarter based on their Intelligence score.

Tony K's AI and Kaedrin's are must-haves in my opinion.

  • @Tiars666tiamat Thanks, yeah you suggested that before but I'm fine with my evil tiefling warlock :D

My gaming backlog is a bit too big for me to play mods anytime soon, I haven't even properly started my OC play because I'm trying o finish other games, but I heard of some good modules

I'm considering using Kaedrin's pack for the OC, I talked about it to the people in the Bioware forum last week (if you go to the forum it's probably the most recent warlock thread XD)

  • @Elciled I played BG1/2, IWD1 and NwN1 and learned everything by experience. Yes the OC is very easy but the point of it is to demonstrate the abilities of the NwN2 engine and make it excessible to everyone, not just hardcore rpg fans or old schoolers. I suggest you get online on some roleplaying servers once you get bored of the OCs and/or try some custom modules. Some of them are better than the official ones ;)

And I suggest starting with a Cleric. You get a bit of everything.

  • @Tiars666tiamat yeah I read about that, I don't mind that much actually... happens a lot in rpgs with me. I play a lot of them but my D&D knowledge is mostly from Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2 and NWN1 (so I really only know a bit), I stopped in Act I the last time I played NWN2, with a warlock, the game on normal was really easy, but I'm more interested in story/roleplay.

  • @Elciled For the OC I suggest choosing another class instead of the Warlock. Since you get one later in the game. If you are a beginner, I suggest either Paladin or Cleric or just Fighter :)

Btw if you have any questions about DnD, feel free to ask me anything.

  • @Tiars666tiamat thank you for the reply - yeah that's the only info I saw too, I looked all over his site... I guess I'll try playing the OC with it, though I'm not really versed in D&D rules, I might miss it completely :P

  • @Elciled Glad you liked it :)

I am not really sure about that bug. There is an entry in Kaedrin's Update History that says:

"Warlock SR Fix/Workaround (including Mantles/Globes/SpellTurning tweaks)"

Is that it? You can always check it for yourself to make sure :)
