[WATCH IN HD FOR BEST AUDIO & VIDEO QUALITY]

Part II of my tutorial video series for the piano version of Snuff, by Slipknot.

Be sure to subscribe to make sure you're kept in the loop with the next tutorial, and all future videos by me.

I've intentionally refrained from using music theory jargon in this video, and will continue to do so for the remainder of the series. I personally enjoy music theory and learning from it, however not everybody appreciates it or has a comprehensive understanding of it. So to help make this a generic video, I've toned down on the technical language.

Sustain pedal, dynamics (loud & quiet), and articulation (how you connect each note to the next) are things that I'm leaving to the player. You're on your own with these, so experiment and enjoy. The best tools for dynamics and articulation are your own ears. Listen to the original song and get a feel for how it should be interpreted.

I'm aware that most pianists will find this a walk in the park. In the grand scheme, this isn't a difficult song. However, it's designed to help those who are struggling learning it and/or have recently taken up playing the keys.

If you still need help, feel free to write me and I'll see what I can do for you.

*Full credit for the piano arrangement goes to Vika Yermolyeva. The transcription for the piano is her work and I like to give credit where it's due. Visit www.vkgoeswild.com for more info*

  • this is so hard! i just have to practice a lot, i'm having a bit problem with the right hand. but i just have to struggle with it :)

  • @linayamada98 Yeah it is pretty tricky at first. Takes a while to get used to, so make sure to practice a lot and break it down and take it slowly. Just practice the rhythm of the vocal melody if you're having trouble and then go ahead and try to add in the rest afterwards.

  • Can i play only the vocal melody ?

  • @vanjaisadrumer Sure. In fact, it's a good idea to do that when you're first learning the song and getting to grips with things. Make it as simple or as complex for your needs at your current ability level. A good way of simplifying things would be to just play the vocal line with your right hand and the low octaves with the left. Keeps things simple before putting everything in there.

  • @Zer0MT thanks for the advice

  • @vanjaisadrumer No worries, anytime.

  • thank you for making this so easy i am a beginner and i learnt the song in one day.

Thank you for making the videos and pls make for other songs to :)

  • @icantbreakfree Hey, no probs. Glad you enjoyed the lesson! Couldn't find Part 1? It's definitely up there somewhere. If you haven't found it already, head to my channel, and you'll find it under the "Everything Else" playlist on the right hand side (I think).

    And thanks for the subscription!

  • @Dadde493 Your English is great, don't worry about that.

And you're welcome, glad I could help you out. Yeah, it is a case of just playing and playing and playing. And if that fails...play some more! And obviously going back and following the lessons through again should help somewhat to give you a guide to follow as you're learning, which is why I made these.

Keep up the practice and don't accept defeat!
