One common mistake that is seen with unsuccessful coaches is poor communication, poor systems and poor effort. Many times coaches will open a weight room for a weight lifting session and just hand out workout charts and sit on their computer and do work while athletes train themselves. This will always lead to poor results.
For athletes to succeed, they need to be coached aggressively. This means the coach must get engaged in the process and be a part of the whole training session instead of focusing on spending their time doing things that don't pertain to the workout. This style of coaching leave the total motivation to the athletes and that can lead to less than optimal results.
