The name is German and is spelled by Germans as Lorelei or Loreley, and for the Styx song they spelled it Lorelei. It is never spelled Lorelie except as a mispelling. When I was in high school I met another girl bearing my namesake, and sadly, her parents had mispelled her name on the birth certificate!
