All I Ask of You from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. Karaoke version with lyrics. Male vocals for Raoul's part added by yours truly, so prospective Christines ... do your part! :D
If you're looking for a version of this without my amateur vocals marring the proceedings, nilsonviegas35 has one posted. Please look it up, thanks.
Please note that this is the movie version of the song as performed by Emmy Rossum/Patrick Wilson, and not the original theatrical version first made popular by Sarah Brightman & Steve Barton. So purists, theatrical belters & the like might wanna look elsewhere. ^^
In any case, I recorded this way past midnight and had overnight guests who were fast asleep. Wasn't about to wake them up with some horrid wailing:p, which I suppose was all well & good because I think this version possibly lends itself to more intimate and sensitive renderings than one usually finds with the original theatrical version. So (here comes the rest of the excuses, lol), I'm not using my full voice here and I'm not attempting to deliver a technical powerhouse virtuoso type vocal (nor am I equipped to do so)... just tried to stay true to the intentions of the character. I think the first half is passable, but kinda of lost my way after that. Was singing the female part in my head while waiting for my cue, and I think a bit of Brightman crept in there and threw me off, lol :p That said, this being my first attempt at posting on YouTube, I don't want this to be a huge drain on my time ... so I'm largely gonna stick to one dry run, then one take, that's it. Perfection is overrated anyways, hehe. So, this is "of the moment" and it is what it is. I do like this song, though it's something I'd not normally choose to sing. It's one of the few duets I know though, and I'm totally in love with the interactive and collaborative possibilities offered via YouTube. So, a duet it is and, yea, enjoy! :p
