Rowan is a bluegrass legend, touring and writing music with the founding father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe in the 1960's. In this sample of his video he shares insight into singing in this classic American style along with anecdotes of Monroe.

Other songs included in the full DVD are "Blue Moon of Kentucky" phrase by phrase, the way Bill Monroe taught it to him. He teaches the bluesy "Walls of Time" (which Peter wrote with Monroe), with its sliding notes and punchy bass runs. Other songs include "In the Pines," a waltz-time song with powerful blues runs in E, which illustrates how to establish rock-solid time to add power and dignity to this and other songs.
