Windows Home Server runs great on an Atom chip. We've had our WHS for two years and its just fantastic -- the automatic backup is by far my favorite feature!

is this a joke Lol, Atom can barely run in a mini series netbook, why the hell would I rely on it being in a home server. I'll continue to use my Opteron based home server, thanks

I would go with something Linux based like Ubuntu or Debian instead of windows home server. You can find a barebones atom330 system for about $150 these days. Throw in a hard drive and some memory and you've got yourself a really cheap home server. The cost of the windows license would account for at least 25% of the cost of building such a system. Windows has it's place. A $300 home server is not one of them unless they can offer it for free if you already have xp/vista/etc

It's too expensive. I'd love to see it in mobile devices, but in netbooks it's not so great. Yeah, uses almost no power, but that causes a huge hit to performance. Imagine this in an HTC Touch.
So this gives me better porn?

why waste money and electricity on a server that's only used for media streaming and file sharing, atom processors are perfect for that because they use minimal electricity and make less heat, useing a core 2 duo or a power hungry core i7 would be a stupid move.
