Walking, talking pieces of pork? Sounds awesome, bring it on.

To pitch this project, we threw storyboards aside and created a screen test audition (look for it above in the Movies section), complete with tiny scripts, real pieces of meat that spoke with accents, one real apricot and one fake mustache. Once the real project began, under the focused eye of Ben Go, we used stop-motion animation to manifest a decidedly esoteric idea into a tangible reality.

The spots are wrapped in a dinner theater aesthetic, complete with Broadway curtains, a stage-like appearance and handheld signage. Chandeliers, stars, a fireplace and a choppy sea all come to life. For the latter, blue satin fabric was rippled and shot to estimate a believable look. A similar technique was used to create the roaring fire into which the two forlorn lovers (why, Lord PorkLoin and Lady Apricot, of course) toss themselves, in a comical Shakespearean sacrifice to satisfy their—and ultimately our—carnal hungers.

Were proud that we attempted to give a faceless piece of cooked pork, a ginger root, a chicken breast and an apricot a personality. It certainly wasnt easy to infuse globs of silicone with generous personality and wit. Thankfully, the agency creatives, David Morring and Dean Oram, came up with a really funny story that people can easily relate to ... considering they have to relate to a piece of pork.
