There is a 4-conductor version of the '59 neck and bridge.

You can get 4 conductor '59s. They're just difficult to get outside of ebay.

Hey dude, I just picked up this guitar and was wondering about the taps, when I push the taps down rather than up does that tap them? or untap them?

When you push them so that the part that is pointing away from the pick-ups is down, then they are tapped. When the part closest to the pick-ups is down, then they are not tapped. Does that make sense? One way to test, though, is to put your amp on a clean channel, play the guitar once, flip the switch, and then play it again. if your guitar became quieter, then they are now tapped. If it became louder, then you guitar is now not tapped. does that help?
