My party, led by an Elven Arcane Trickster, confronts the Fire Giant King. The red dragon, Tholapsyx, makes a dramatic entrance.

  • wow.....nice strategy....What would you propose to me, since i'm a druid? I prefer fighting with swords than casting spells...plus I totally agree with your desicion to have Casavir along . he is tough and he can heal himself quite effectively.I'm not sure Zjaeve though...too soft..especially without an armor...does she suffer spell failure if she wears one?... hey sorry for all those questions..I just can't handle that stupid dragon :)

  • Don't underestimate Zhjaeve's usefulness in this situation. Sometimes her Mass Heal is just what I need to stop Tholapsyx from finishing me off. Also, she's a Cleric, so I make her a +5 Mithral Full Plate without worries. Armor however doesn't show up on Zhjaeve's model. For Elanee, I like custom making her a +4 scimitar that scores both cold and holy damage. Elanee also takes the Improved Critical: Scimitar feat, so she becomes quite formidable in melee combat.

  • This fight was difficult...for a first. You followed just the right path: two fighter, and three spell casters. I tried first with two but Zjaeve together with Ammon didn't even scratch that dragon. And if we did, big red one here restored suddendly 1/3 of its health before putting stoneskin on herself.

Next time I tried with three casters, Sand and Qara were the ones, with monks khelgar and I. Sand's polar ray and Qara's empowered missile storms killed it...quite easily.

  • after playing dragon age- will i be able to tolerate this game's slightly aged graphics?

  • I tried this with a rogue character, and I failed miserably. Within seconds, the beast had burned me to a crisp, and reduced Casavir to half health. Unfortunately, Zhjaeve failed a concentration check for her healing spell, and was lacerated by the dragon shortly thereafter. The dragon then tried another flame attack, which did little do the survivors; I had Khelgar taunt it, giving Casavir time to heal himself. Of course, the creature ignored the dwarf and when for Casavir, then to Quara...

  • I prefer to Avasculate-Polar ray/IGMS Tholapsyx to oblivion though.
