词: 乔羽 曲: 刘炽

This is the theme song of a Chinese movie released in late 1950s': Shang Gan Ling (上甘岭). After the utmost humiliation for over a century since 1840, China was then at her most vulnerable state: British were selling opium to China, when China refused to buy, Britain declared wars upon China (A.D.1840 First Opium War), not once, not twice; then selling more opium to China in exchange of China's silk, tea, pearl, gold, silver, treasures and Hong Kong. Pandora's box was brought in and kicked wide open when the whole nation was well and truly under the opium effect: Europeans started screwing China like cutting a water melon, robbing China in/out of the wars, exhibiting our first class treasures in British Museum and Louvre; auctioning stolen goods publicly and shamelessly till this day! Then Japanese came, took our silver, gold and land (ruled Taiwan for 50 years), gang raped our women, tested biochemical weapons/experiments on our children alive, slaughtered 30 million Chinese (5 times of number of Jews were killed in the Holocaust) on our motherland till 1945! Europeans and Japanese threatened China to sign countless outrageously unfair treaties, cutting China to the bone! China was in deep and long suffering from wars (and civil war), hunger, poverty, diseases and extreme agony of being homeless decade after decade. After World War II, America played an unfair judge by helping the defeated nation Japan to rebuild Japan. On the other hand, with all the intention to eliminate communist while it's still in cradle, the whole Western World and Americans were hand in hand in order to isolate, to block the Red China since 1949, left the victorious nation China in despair. China barely stood up from her blood, her tears, her ashes and ocean of grief, when US air force was bombing China's border ( between China and North Korea) in early 1950s, rubbing salt into China's wounds, in the name of FREEDOM! In the name of loving GOD! The new born Communist China didn't even have a proper air force: more than half of pilots were borrowed from USSR ... of NO return, we are ETERNALLY INDEBTED to those Russian pilots who sacrificed their lives for us! Only a handful was qualified with standard mileage amongst Chinese pilots, they were A JOKE compared to US air force! Military aids we were getting from USSR were hugely out of proportion to what Stalin promised his little communist brother Mao, who had no money (KMT took whole nation's gold storage to Taiwan!), no friends from the West, severe shortage of food, out of date equipment, plus 10000% screwed war torn land! On the back of Stalin's mind he never believed Mao would have the gut to go for it. Stalin was merely doing a show biz when he promised the world to Mao! China was all alone -- facing a so not friendly GIANT SUPER POWER, that blocked (island chain is STILL BLOCKING) China's sea gates right from North Korea to Japan, to Taiwan, to Philippines, and to Vietnam. China was MENTALLY RAPED by America! Some Americans do believe that God is everywhere, some also believe that God's headquarters is in America; but only turn out to be a self-centered, merciless prick; a narcissistic, a self-righteous asshole! A nuisance, a ruthless enemy to many other nations! My motherland was on her own! But she is so not ready to put up with America's bullying, aggressiveness, hypocrisy plus bullshit friendship accompanied with supremacy and conditions. This movie is based on a true story, is about China's participation in the battle at Shang Gan Ling (上甘岭) during Korean War, where China famously beat the arrogant shit out of Americans. American soldiers fully equipped with cutting edge technology were defeated in total disgrace. 128,650 casualties, 128,650 young American lives were wasted in this unrighteous, ungodly Korean War - the only war America ever surrendered! As for China, a sweet, a tearful, a heart aching, a bloody victory that was much needed indeed, in time!

The legendary Chinese songstress Han Hong (韩红) was born in Tibet, China. Her father is Chinese and her mother is Tibetan. She grew up in Tibet and started out her career in Beijing in early 1990s'. After many struggling years, her music, blended with Tibetan and Chinese elements, took the pop music world by storm. Han Hong 's angelic, immortal voice; her profound emotion and calmness; her gentleness and inner strength; her way of interpreting this song, together with the beautiful musical arrangement, delivers a dignified, a glorious modern ballad version of MY MOTHERLAND, after half of a century, this song still burns holes in many Chinese souls.

"There is no greater breach of the public trust than knowingly misleading the country into war. In a democracy, we simply cannot tolerate the abuse of this trust by the government." - Senator John Kerry
