craig russell was fabulous. it's a shame drag isn't like this. probably because actresses these days just can't achieve the same level of camp.

This is really clever. It makes a change from the more exaggerated stereotyped kind of drag.

Nope, that is Sonja Barends (the hostess of the show)

I think this is maybe from the late 70s so everyone looked like that..even the men! lol.

The possible with the impossible. Just great!!!

Babycheeks ... Met him in Berlin, where he often performed with big success ... Back in the late 70s/early80s, Berlin was THE place for the most glam performers, cabarets and theatres (Romy Haag, Coccinelle, Les Follies Parisiennes, daniel Sander, Travestival, Chez Nous, La Vie En Rose, Berliner Gasthaus, Luetzower Lampe) ... Craig had such a sweet personality, but was like a lost puppy ... Guess the gurl burnt her candle from both ends ... Makes a hell of a musical angel! ... Luv ya, miss ya!!!

He was a beautiful person either way. As, I had a bit of a crush on him, but I was to young then, lol! I never met him, but I did follow his career.

That was a great Martha Raye.

Stonewall was actually a non-event...police had been raiding the bars for years..the actual march was very dull.......the Trannies were scary and had bottles in their hands.but otherwise no more confrontational than a sat nite in Soho

Why doesn't he and all the other gays who impersonate Judy Garland play her as drunk and insulting other celebrities and screaming about her ex-husbands? Or is this a sacrilige for the gay community?

well, he's dead.. but hopefully someone will take up the challenge. I don't know why Judy is such a gay (friends of Dorothy) icon anyway.

How does he do that with his voice? It's so amazing. I don't understand how he can make his voice sound so female. Cause he's not lipsynching. It's his own voice.

We're all part male and female.. Craig did also have a very feminine face and body. I guess his falsetto just mixed in well with his normal voice, that is, no "break". Not uncommon for tenors. But it's his humor and style that outshines all other skills... sheer personality.

Craig Russell was an outstanding female impersonator, searching in Google should help you find out more. He had the right face, body and voice for it, but also the talent. On YouTube there are a few drag scenes from his movie "outrageous". This TV show should have taken place in the mid '80s.
